We care for Thomas Pond by
managing the dam, testing the water, and more

Pond Level

As of 11/22/25 Thomas Pond is 28.5″ below the top of the dam. That is slightly below our target level for the off-season of -27″.

We are currently releasing 2″ of flow over the dam, slightly more than the Aquatic Base Flow.

We are now in our off-season management period, so we’ll generally not change the stop logs other than to maintain minimum flow so long as the pond is between -24″ and -30″ below the top of the dam and no weather events require changes.

Thomas Pond
Water Quality
is “Most at Risk”

Per Code of Maine Rules Chapter 502, Thomas Pond is included in the 2018 list of water bodies most at risk from development, which means that this pond is particularly sensitive to additional phosphorus inputs.

In 2023, TPIA measured higher Phosphorous than in prior years.
